We specialize in green building remodels. This includes using new materials that require little or no maintenance. A good example of this is Trex decking material. Since it requires no treatment of stains or sealers, it costs less and is easier on the environment. The Trex material is made of recycled plastics, and even though the initial cost for the material is more, the savings in not staining and sealing will easily surpass a traditional wood deck in 5 to 10 years.

CHI Builders is brand new, under a year old. As the demand for sustainable building practices increases in the Walla Walla Valley, we hope to provide practical down-to-earth solutions for homeowners. We are members of the Walla Walla Home Builder's Association with a Built Green certification. We are licensed in Washington and Oregon. We spent a week in Portland at the Rebuilding Center learning the ins and outs of deconstruction, the art of taking apart residential structures so as to render usable the lumber package, windows, cabinets, and light fixtures.

We specialize in green building. This means that when we removes cabinets for a kitchen remodel we donate them to a local building materials exchange store giving the homeowner a tax write-off and keeping the cabinets out of the landfill. Any lumber that can't be donated is taken to W-4 Construction where they grind it up, use a magnet to take out the nails, and then they send it over to the Boise Cascade paper plant as hog fuel.

We have enjoyed working with DJ Plumbing, Doyle Electric, Absolutely Ed's Plumbing, A-1 Plumbing, R-Derooter Sewer & Drain Cleaning Service. We communicate with the Walla Walla Area Resource Conservation Committee, Barber Construction, and Big House Remodeling, LLC.
